Nhiên Head Spa & Wellness

A Vietnamese head spa, by hand and scalp first. Two studios in Texas, one way of being at ease.

A guest lies back under a copper arc, eyes covered, as a Nhiên therapist works the scalp

Named for an nhiên

Nhiên comes from an nhiên, the Vietnamese way of being at ease: unhurried, unbothered, fully present.

Nhiên opened in Katy, Texas, to bring the Vietnamese head spa here as it is done at home: by hand, scalp first, one unhurried hour at a time. Houston is the ritual’s second home, with the same unhurried pace and the same hands.

Women-owned and Vietnamese-owned. For the women who lead Nhiên, the head spa is not a trend: it is a tradition a hundred years old, and it is treated like one.

Long hair fanned over the basin as a Nhiên therapist lathers the scalp in the double wash
A rattan tray of tea, dried orange and small sweets that closes the hour at Nhiên
Three beds under three lit plaster arches in the treatment room at Nhiên Katy, a therapist at each

The treatment room at Nhiên Katy: three arches, three beds, one unhurried hour.
